DTV Transition

Starting on February 17, 2009 the federal government is mandating that all "full power" television stations must end their analog broadcasts (which may not include select stations-see here for details), and switch to digital broadcasts. Digital broadcasting transmits TV picture and video using "data bits" similarly to a computer, rather than the traditional analog service. This conventional analog signal, which has been in place since the inception of television broadcasting is not as efficient as digital broadcasting, and uses up valuable spectrum resources that will now be used by public safety organizations such as the ocal police and fire departments.

If you have Montezuma Telephone cable service, there is no need to be worried. Cable service will still be broadcasting without any interruptions, even after the February 17, 2009 deadline. If you have any TV's that still use an analog signal, most commonly referred to as a "rabbit ears" antenna, you must either upgrade to a digital TV, or purchase a set-top DTV conversion box. These boxes are available at many local and national retail stores, and a government coupon for a portion of the purchase price is available.
